Basil Pesto

Pesto. A recipe of ground up basil leaves, garlic, cheese, salt, and olive. I also added a serano pepper for a hint of heat.


Fresh basil leaves 3 Bunch (300 gm)
Pine nuts 2 Ounce
Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm)
Elephant garlic 1 Clove (5 gm)
Kosher salt 1 Pinch
Serrano chilli pepper 1 Medium , chopped (Optional)
Romano cheese 1/8 Cup (2 tbs) , grated
Pecorino cheese 1/8 Cup (2 tbs) , grated
Olive oil 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)



1. Wash the basil leaves and pluck out the leaves from the stem.

2. Grate the cheese and put it together in a bowl.

3. Chop the Serrano chilli pepper.


4. In a food processor, put the basil leaves, and blend.

5. Add serrano peppers and pine nuts, garlic, elephant garlic, salt, both the type of cheese and continue blending.

6. Pour the olive oil and resume blending till smooth.


7. Transfer it into a bowl and serve with bread or pizza, salads or sandwiches.
