But making it yourself at home is also pretty easy, it keeps for a long time, and you can control flavour and salt levels. If you want you can completely leave the salt out. Plus you get to play around and have something that is uniquely your own. Here we show you 3 homemade taco spice blends, these are great on beef, pork, lamb, and shrimp!
|Salt||1 Tablespoon (About 15 ml, If you are on a restricted diet, leave this out)|
|Pepper||1 Tablespoon (About 15 ml)|
|Ground cumin||1 Tablespoon (About 15 ml)|
|Paprika||1 Tablespoon (About 15 ml)|
|Chilli pepper||1 Tablespoon (About 15 ml)|
|Garlic powder||1 Teaspoon (About 5 ml)|
|Onion powder||1 Teaspoon (About 5 ml)|
|Mexican oregano||1 Tablespoon (About 15 ml)|
|Ground cinnamon||2 Teaspoon (About 10 ml)|
|Smoked paprika powder||1 Tablespoon (For the 2nd veriation)|
|Cocoa powder||1 Tablespoon (About 15 ml)|
1.First variation: Put all of the ingredients in a jar and shake.
2.Second variation: Swap out the paprika for smoked paprika.
3.Grind a smoked chile - of your choice - and add to the first variation's mix.
4.Third variation: To either variation #1 or #2 add 1 Tbsp (15 mL) of cocoa powder.
If you cant find Mexican Oregano, use Marjoram, it has a flavour profile thats closer than Mediterranean Oregano.
