Matar Gujiya - Green Peas Karanji - Tasty Veg Snack

Our tastebuds do love the sweet gujiyas but this time our heart muttered 'Matar' we tried Matar Gujiya!!


Ghee 8 Tablespoon
Cumin seeds 2 Teaspoon
Ginger 1 Inch , chop
Chopped green chili 4
Green peas 400 Gram , boil
Salt To Taste
Black salt 1/2 Teaspoon
Chaat masala 1 Teaspoon
Refined oil 1 Cup (16 tbs) (for frying)
Maida 5 Cup (80 tbs)
Water 1 Cup (16 tbs) (as required)



1.Sift the flour and rub in ghee.

2.Knead the dough with enough water, to make it stiff.

3.Cover with a moist cloth and keep aside.

4.Heat ghee in a pan, and cumin powder, ginger and green chillies, saute for 2-3 minutes.

5.Add the green peas, salt, black salt, cumin powder and chaat masala.

6.Saute for 4-5 minutes, and mash the mixture.

7.Once mixture is dry enough, remove from flame and set aside to cool.

8.Divide the dough into equal portions, and roll it out.

9.Put the filling in the centre of one disc and fold over to make a half circle.

10.Press the wedges well together to seal the filling inside.

11.Fry the gujiya on low flame till brown and crispy.


12.Serve hot with ketchup.
