Who says a person cannot feast when fasting! faral means "fast" and these pattice are designed specifically for those who are fasting. The coating of arrowroat adds a unique dimension to this otherwise common dish. Served with sweetened curds, to complete the mast experience!


For stuffing
Fresh grated coconut 5 Tablespoon
Roasted and coarsely ground peanuts 3 Tablespoon
Finely chopped coriander 3 Tablespoon
Chopped raisins 1 1/2 Tablespoon
Chopped cashew 1 1/2 Tablespoon
Ginger green chili paste 1 Tablespoon
Sugar 1 1/2 Tablespoon
Lemon juice 1 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste
For potato mixture
Boiled mashed potato 1 3/4 Cup (28 tbs)
Arrowroot powder 3 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste
For sweetened curd
Fresh curd 1 Cup (16 tbs) , whisked
Powdered sugar 3 Tablespoon
Salt 1 Pinch
Other ingredient
Arrowroot flour 2 Tablespoon (For dusting)
Oil 1 Cup (16 tbs) (For deep frying)



For Stuffing:

1. In a bowl, combine coconut, peanut, coriander, raisins, cashew, ginger green chili paste, sugar, lemon juice and salt. Mix well.

For Potato Mixture:

2. In a bowl mix together mashed potato, arrowroot powder, and salt.

3. Divide the potato mixture and the stuffing into 8 equal portions and set aside.

4. Flatten a portion of the potato mixture and place a portion of the stuffing in the centre. Bring together the edges and seal the stuffing. Shape into a round ball. Roll the balls in the arrowroot flour and coat evenly from all the sides. Repeat the step to make more.

5. In a skillet, heat oil and deep fry the balls over medium flame until golden brown. Place on paper towel to drain.

For Sweetened Curd:

6. In a bowl, mix curd with powdered sugar and salt.



7. Serve immediately with teekha chutney and sweetened curd.
