Tava Pulao

Tava pulao, another quick treat off the pav bhaji cart! this delicious pulao is prepared in advance by the vendor, and shares a place on the pav bhaji tawa. It is swiftly portioned out onto serving plates when the orders flow in, to appease the severest of hunger shots.


Butter 3 Tablespoon
Cumin seeds 2 Teaspoon
Chili garlic paste 1 1/2 Tablespoon
Finely chopped onions 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Finely chopped capsicum 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Finely chopped tomatoes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Turmeric powder 1/4 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Chilli powder 1 Teaspoon
Pav bhaji masala 2 Teaspoon
Water 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Cooked rice 2 1/2 Cup (40 tbs)
Boiled green peas 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
For the garnish:
Finely chopped coriander 2 Tablespoon



1. On a griddle, heat butter, add cumin seeds and saute for few seconds. Add chili garlic paste, mix, add onion and saute for 1 to 2 minutes.

2. Add capsicum, mix well and saute for another 2 minutes. Add tomatoes and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.

3. Add turmeric powder, salt, chili powder, pav bhaji masala and water, mix well, mash and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4. Add rice and boiled peas mix and cook until heated through. Garnish with coriander.


5. Serve hot with curd and papad.
