Moong Osaman, This tangy and light soup works best for detoxification. Moong is easily digestible and this soup contains no spices and little oil. It just has a mild flavouring of curry leaves and lemon juice etc.


Water 4 1/2 Cup (72 tbs)
Moong 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) , washed, drained (whole green gram)
Oil 1 Teaspoon
Cumin seeds 1/2 Teaspoon
Grated ginger 1 Teaspoon
Curry leaves 5 (4
Asafoetida 1/4 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Lemon juice 2 Teaspoon
Finely chopped coriander 2 Tablespoon



1. In a pressure cooker, combine water, moong and pressure cook for 4 whistles. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.


2. In a deep non-stick pan, heat oil, add cumin and allow them to splutter.

3. Add ginger, curry leaves, asafoetida and saute over low flame for a few seconds.

4. Stir in cooked moong along with the water and season with salt. Mix well and bring to a boil.

5. Add lemon juice and coriander. Mix well.


6. Serve hot.
