How many times have you felt depressed yearning for your favourite foods but unable to indulge as you are on 'diet'? My dear readers, do not despair any longer, as I have conjured up a baked version of sev that tastes equally great! it tastes brilliant when used as a topping on snacks like bhel, sev puri, etc.

Ingredients

Besan 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Bengal gram flour)
Turmeric powder 1/4 Teaspoon
Asafoetida 1/4 Teaspoon
Lemon juice 2 Teaspoon
Powdered sugar 1/4 Teaspoon
Oil 2 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Water 2 Tablespoon (as needed)

Directions

GETTING READY

1. Preheat oven to 200 degree C or 400 degree F.

2. Grease a baking tray and set aside.

MAKING

3. In a bowl, combine besan (Bengal gram flour), turmeric powder, asafoetida, lemon juice, sugar, oil, and salt. Mix well and knead into semi soft dough using approx 2 tablespoons of water.

4. Shape the dough into a cylindrical roll; fill the dough into the "sev press". Press out thin strands onto a greased baking tray.

5. Pop the baking tray in oven and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the sev turns light brown in color. Cool, store in an air-tight container.

SERVING

6. Serve with tea and enjoy!

TIPS

Ensure you use a sev press plate with very thin holes to let the save bake faster and is crisper.

If your baking tray is small, make this recipe in 2 batches.
