Hara Bhara Kebab (Vegetarian Kebab Recipe)

Hara Bhara Kebab is a quick and easy vegetarian kebab made with spinach and green peas and perked with authentic Indian spices.


Chana dal 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) , soaked for 1 hr
Ginger 2 Teaspoon , finely chopped
Garlic 2 Teaspoon , finely chopped
Green chili 1 Tablespoon , finely chopped
Blanched spinach leaves 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Boiled green peas 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Paneer 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , grated
Chaat masala 1 Teaspoon
Garam masala 1/4 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Plain flour 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Water 1 Cup (16 tbs) , divided (as needed)
Bread crumbs 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Oil 2 Cup (32 tbs) (For deep frying)



1. In a pressure cooker, add chana dal, garlic, ginger, green chilies and water(1/2 cup), mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Allow the steam to escape, drain.

2. Add the cooked dal along with green peas and spinach and blend in a blender till smooth, use water if required.

3. Transfer into a mixing bowl and add the paneer, salt, garam masala, chaat masala and cup bread crumbs (1/4 cup), mix well.

6. Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions and shape each portion into 2 inch kababs.

7. Mix together flour and water( 1/3rd cup). Dip each kebab into the prepared flour water paste and roll in the remaining bread crumbs.

8. Heat the oil in a non-stick wok and deep-fry them till they are golden brown in color from both the sides.


9. Serve with chutney or sauce.
