Masala chana- this is one cart vendor I want to bless, for providing a really nutritious meal! You can have the spiciness customized to your liking! Most popular at chowpatty, beaches and at railway stations too!


Green chickpeas 1 Cup (16 tbs) , soaked (8 hrs) and boiled (hara chana)
Butter 2 Tablespoon
Finely chopped green chillies 2 Teaspoon
Finely chopped onions 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Finely chopped tomatoes 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Chili powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Pav bhaji masala 1/2 Teaspoon
Chaat masala 2 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Lemon juice 4 Teaspoon
Finely chopped coriander 2 Tablespoon (dhania)



1. In a broad non-stick pan, add butter and when hot add green chilies and sauté for a few seconds, before adding onions and sautéing for a couple of minutes until translucent.

2. Now add tomatoes and sauté for a minute or two, before adding chilli powder, pav bhaji masala and chaat masala. Mix properly and cook for a minute.

3. Mix in salt and green chickpeas and cook for a minute or two, while stirring continuously. Now add lemon juice and coriander, and cook for a couple of minutes, while stirring continuously. Turn off heat.


4. Serve hot.
