This simple and delicious recipe is a real treat for weight watchers. Chakli, the popular Indian snack, is usually deep-fried and contains loads of calories. Here's how to make them with 1 tsp of oil to near perfection by baking them in an oven. Munch them at anytime of the day when hunger strikes.

Rice flour 1 Cup (16 tbs) ((chawal ka atta))
Low fat yogurt 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) ((low fat curd))
Sesame seeds 2 Teaspoon ((til))
Chili powder 1 Teaspoon
Asafoetida 1 Pinch ((hing))
Salt To Taste
Oil 1 Teaspoon
Water 1 Cup (16 tbs) ((to make semi soft dough))

1.Pre-heat the oven.

2.In a bowl, combine together all the ingredients, and knead in the form of semi-soft dough using enough water.

3.Put the chakli mixture into chakli press and press out round dough swirls in the form of coil onto a greased baking tray. Around 30 chaklis would be made.

4.Now place the baking tray with chaklis into preheated oven, and bake at 180 degrees C (360 degrees F) for 30 - 35 minutes, turning the chaklis once after around 20 minutes.

5.Cool and store the chaklis in an air-tight container and serve during snack time.

Instead of using 1 teaspoon of oil, you can use one tablespoon of oil to make the chaklis softer and to reduce the baking time to 25 minutes.
