Jhat-pat halwa can be prepared within half an hour because it is made with common ingredients, and requires very little prior preparation and planning. The creamy taste of milk acts as a suitable base, which highlights the shades of saffron and cardamom. The topping of pistachios and almonds gives it a rich feel.

Full fat milk 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Sugar 2 Tablespoon
Fresh yogurt 1/2 Tablespoon
Saffron strands 2 Pinch (kesar strands dissolved in 2 tsp water)
Cardamom powder 1/2 Teaspoon (elaichi powder)
Fresh cream 2 Tablespoon
Almond slivers 1 Teaspoon (badam)
Pistachio slivers 1 Teaspoon
For garnish
Almond slivers 1 Tablespoon (badam)

1. In a broad non stick pan, combine milk, yogurt, and sugar, and mix properly. Cook on high heat for 8 - 10 minutes, while stirring continuously.

2. Remove from heat, allow it to cool, and form a smooth paste of it by blending in a mixer.

3. Now transfer the paste in a bowl, and add saffron-water mixture, fresh cream, cardamom powder, almonds, and pistachios. Mix properly.

4. Pour the paste in a plate, garnish with cardamom powder, pistachio slivers, and almonds and refrigerate for 1 - 2 hours.

5. Serve the halwa chilled.
