Fenugreek and soyaflour helps to lower blood glucose levels, thus making this recipe an excellent one for diabetic people. Being cooked in very minimal fat this Indian bread suits a low-cal menu as well.

Whole wheat flour 1 Cup (16 tbs) (gehun ka atta)
Soy flour 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Fenugreek leaves 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) (methi)
Dry yeast/1 tsp crumbled fresh yeast 1/2 Teaspoon
Sugar 1 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Oil 1/2 Teaspoon
Garlic 8 Teaspoon , finely chopped (lehsun)
Water 1 Cup (16 tbs) (little more or less for preparing the yeast mix and for making the dough)
Other ingredients
Whole wheat flour 5 Tablespoon (For dusting)
Low fat butter 1 Teaspoon (for brushing)

1. In a bowl, combine together sugar, yeast, and two tablespoons of water, and cover and keep aside for 10 minutes, until yeast swells up.

2. In another bowl, combine together soya flour, wheat flour, yeast-sugar mixture, salt, oil, and fenugreek leaves, and knead in the form of soft dough, using enough water. Keep the dough aside for around half an hour to allow it to swell, covered with a muslin cloth or lid.

3. Now divide the dough into eight equal parts. Take a dough ball, and press it on the rolling board; sprinkle one teaspoon of garlic and flatten into oblong shape with the help of rolling pin, using little amount of wheat flour.

4. On a hot non-stick tava (griddle), cook the naan on one side till it puffs up slightly and then flip over to cook on the other side till slightly puffed up. Then transfer the naan over an open flame till it turns golden brown in color from both sides.

5. Make seven more naans in a similar way.

6. Serve the naans hot after brushing each one with 1/8 teaspoon of butter.
