Potato Paneer Roti by Tarla Dalal

Who said rotis are boring? Try this exciting combination of paneer, potatoes, coriander and green chillies and be prepared to be amazed!


Boiled mashed potatoes 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Grated paneer 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (cottage cheese)
Whole wheat flour 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Plain flour 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Finely chopped coriander 2 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste
Finely chopped green chili 2 Teaspoon
Cumin seeds 1 Teaspoon
Turmeric powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Ghee 1 Tablespoon (Leveled) (For greasing and cooking)
For rolling
Whole wheat flour 1 Tablespoon (For dusting as needed)



1. In a bowl, combine mashed potato, grated paneer, whole wheat flour, plain flour, coriander, salt, green chili, cumin seeds, and turmeric powder. Add enough water and knead into soft dough.

2. Divide the dough into 10 equal portions and roll a portion into 5-inch diameter circle using wheat flour for rolling.

3. Grease a non-stick griddle with a little ghee. Cook the roti, using little ghee, till it turns golden brown from both sides. Repeat for the remaining rotis.


4. Serve hot with curd, pickle, or chutney.
