Shrimp & Crab Appetizers with my Come Dine With Me Friends

A special episode where my Come Dine With Me Canada friends come over for a night of great food and a whole bunch of laughs. They are treated to a delicious spicy shrimp that sits atop a crab mayo on a crunchy english cucumber and topped with a coriander leaf

Ingredients

White shrimp/Tiger shrimp 1 Pound , peeled, deveined
Juice of lemon 1/2
Ginger paste 1 Teaspoon
Garlic paste 1 Teaspoon
Chilli powder 1 Teaspoon
Turmeric powder 1 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Oil 1 Tablespoon
Mayonnaise 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Crab meat 120 Gram , liquid squeezed out, divided
Red chilli flakes 1 Pinch
English cucumber 1 Large , sliced to cirlces
Fresh coriander leaves 1/8 Cup (2 tbs) , leaves separated

Directions

GETTING READY

1. In a bowl mix shrimp with lemon juice, chilli powder, ginger garlic pastes, salt and turmeric powder. Marinate for at least 1 hour.

2. Soak skewers in water for at least 30 minutes.

3. Heat the grill/ barbecue.

MAKING

4. Skewer the marinated shrimp, brush with oil on both sides and grill them for a few minutes or until they are done. Transfer them into a plate to cool.

5. In a bowl, add mayonnaise, 3/4th of the crab meat and red chilli flakes. Mix well till combined. Fill it in a piping bag or plastic bag with nozzle or with tips cut.

FINALIZING

6. In a serving plate, arrange cucumber slices in a layer. Pipe the mayonnaise-crab mixture on top of each slice. Put some crab meat over it and place the shrimp on top. Garnish with coriander leaves.

SERVING

7. Serve the appetizer fresh and cold.

TIPS

The shrimps can also be pan fried.
