Spicy Chicken

Soft chicken pieces in strongly flavored red gravy. Spicy and aromatic made specially on holidays or Sundays for feasting.


Skinless chicken 2 Pound (cut into medium pieces)
Low fat yogurt 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Rice bran oil 1 1/2 Tablespoon
Bay leaf 2
Cinnamon stick 2
Cloves 5
Crushed black pepper 1 Teaspoon
Onions 2 Large , chopped
Tomato 1 Large , chopped
Cilantro 1 Teaspoon (for garnish)
Water 2 Cup (32 tbs) (for curry)
Marinade ingredients
Salt To Taste
Lime juice 2 Tablespoon
Ginger garlic paste 4 Tablespoon
Red chilli powder 2 Tablespoon



1. Mix red chillies, ginger-garlic paste, salt, lime juice and yogurt in a bowl.

2. Add the cut chicken pieces to the marinade and leave aside for about an hour.


3. Heat half of the oil in a skillet. Add bay leaf, cinnamon sticks, cloves, crushed black pepper, saute for a minute.

4. Add chopped onions. Saute till onions turn translucent and tender.

5. Add tomatoes, Cook for another 10 minutes.Cool and puree the mix in a blender. Keep aside.

6. Heat leftover oil and add the marinated chicken to the pan.

7. Cook on medium heat until chicken is cooked. Stir regularly.

8. Add puree, water for curry, salt to taste and simmer on medium heat for 5 minutes.

9. Garnish with cilantro.


10. Serve hot with some bhakris and onion slices.
