Curried Sausages Indian Way

Sliced sausages cooked in tomato-yogurt gravy and flavored with Indian masala! This straight goes to my list of party mains easy to whip up in just about 30 minutes or less and with simple ingredients, this dish can be a real crowd pleaser. You can substitute sausages with prawns, chicken or even paneer and I am sure that will all taste equally good!

Ingredients

Olive oil 1 Tablespoon
Mustard seeds 1 Pinch
Tomatoes 350 Gram , sliced (about 6 medium)
Frankfurter sausages 3 , sliced
Yogurt 100 Gram
Coriander leaves 2 Tablespoon , chopped finely
Salt To Taste
For the curry paste
Onion 1 Small , roughly chopped
Garlic 8 Clove (40 gm) , roughly chopped
Green chili 2 Small , roughly chopped
Cumin seeds 1/4 Teaspoon
Coriander powder 1 Teaspoon
Garam masala 1 Teaspoon
Chili powder 1 Teaspoon
Turmeric powder 1/4 Teaspoon

Directions

GETTING READY

1. Grind ingredients under “for curry paste” into a smooth paste using water.

MAKING

2. Heat oil in a sauce pan and splutter mustard seeds.

3. Add the curry paste and fry for a couple of minutes, until the raw smell is gone.

4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cover and cook in low heat until the mixture turns mushy. If the tomatoes are not juicy enough, add ¼ cup or more water at this stage.

5. Once the tomatoes turn mushy, add the sliced sausages and mix well to coat the masala. Let it cook for another couple of minutes, until sausages are cooked through.

6. Add salt and adjust other seasonings. Simmer.

7. Add the yogurt (with no lumps) along with half the chopped coriander and mix well to combine. Do not let it boil. Remove from heat after a couple of minutes.

SERVING

8. Transfer to the serving bowl, garnish with rest of the coriander. Serve with plain rice, batura or roti.
