Whole Wheat Stuffed Puri

Whole wheat flour jackets stuffed with green gram and baked till crisp. Perfect snack for a rainy day and not to forget guilt free.


Whole wheat flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Rice bran oil 1 Tablespoon
Mint chutney 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) (Optional)
Water To Taste (to make dough)
Stuffing ingredients:
Split green gram dal with skin 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , soaked overnight
Salt To Taste
Turmeric powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Green chillies 2 Small , chopped finely
Ginger paste 1/2 Tablespoon
Rice bran oil 1/2 Teaspoon
Cumin seeds 1/2 Teaspoon



1. Drain the soaked dal. Coarsely ground them in a mixer/grinder.

2. Heat oil in small skillet. Add cumin seeds and ground dal, saute for few mins. Add chillies, salt, turmeric and ginger paste. Mix well. Keep it aside.

3. Take a bowl, knead a little hard dough with whole wheat flour and water. Keep it aside.

4. Pre heat the oven at 400 degree F.


1. Make golf sized balls from the dough. Pick one ball and spread with hands making small dent at the center.

2. Stuff the center with 1 tbsp of stuffing and close it.

3. Roll this puri into flat disc of 3-4 inches. Keep it aside.

4. Make more puri's in similar manner. Grease them both the sides and place on oven tray.

5. Bake them for 10 minutes each side or till light brown in color.


6. Serve hot with a sauce/chutney of your choice.
