Easy Masala Rice

This is an easy to prepare rice dish with spicy blend of all Indian spices. Try the recipe and enjoy the flavor of Indian spices.


Vegetable oil 2 Tablespoon
Cumin seeds 1 Teaspoon
Cloves 2 Medium
Onion 1 Medium , chopped
Chopped ginger 1 Teaspoon
Chopped garlic 1 Teaspoon
Long grain rice 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Soaked in water for 20 minutes, drained)
Dry spices
Turmeric 1/4 Teaspoon
Black pepper powder 1/4 Teaspoon
Coriander powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Garam masala 1/2 Teaspoon
Biryani masala 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Rest of the ingredients
Water 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
For garnishing
Coriander leaves 2 Tablespoon , chopped (For garnishing)
Cashews 1 Tablespoon , roasted (Optional)



1. Soak rice in water for about 20 minutes.

2. After 20 minutes, drain the rice and set aside.


3. Heat a pot with oil. When oil turns hot, add cumin seeds, cloves, onions, ginger and garlic. Stir fry until onions are translucent.

4. Add the rice and all the dry spices. Mix well to coat all the rice grains with the spices well.

5. Add salt and water, stir. Bring it to a boil on high heat.

6. Once the water starts to boil, reduce the heat to low, cover and let cook for 10 minutes.

7. After 10 minutes, turn the heat off and let sit, covered for 15 minutes.

8. After 15 minutes, garnish with some freshly chopped coriander leaves and roasted cashew nuts (if using) and the rice is ready to be served.


9. Serve hot with any Indian side dish or a raita of your choice.
