Homemade Masala Vade

These indian fritters are made for special occasions in the indian household. There are different types of vada's and this is one of them.Tasty and crunchy !!


Split bengal gram 1 Cup (16 tbs) (chana dal)
Split black gram 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (urad dal)
Onion 2 Medium
Green chili 2
Ginger 1 Small (piece)
Cumin seed 1 Teaspoon
Dill leaves 1 Cup (16 tbs) , chopped finely (Soya keerai)
Coriander 1 Bunch (100 gm)
Salt To Taste



1.Soak the dals (black gram and bengal gram) for 2 hours

2.Drain the water and coarsely grind the dals with ginger, green chilies, cumin seeds and salt

3.Add chopped onions, dill leaves and coriander to the batter


4.Heat the oil in a kadai (frying pan)

5.Take small quantity of the coarsely ground batter on your palm

6.Flatten it with ur fingers

7.Drop the vada batter in the hot oil.

8.Deep fry it until it turns golden brown and crisp


9.Serve it hot with tomato sauce or pickle. This can be served along with hot tea or coffee.
