Delicious Indian deep fried snack!
For dough | ||
Rice flour | 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs) | |
Sesame seed | 1 Tablespoon | |
Ajwain | 1 Tablespoon | |
Chili powder | To Taste (white chili powder) (Optional) | |
Salt | To Taste | |
Sugar | To Taste | |
Sour cream | 1 1/4 Cup (20 tbs) (Can be replaced with 1 1/8 cup of water and 1/3 cup butter) | |
Oil | 1/2 Teaspoon (For greasing) | |
For frying | ||
Oil | 1 Cup (16 tbs) (For deep frying) |
MAKING
1. Take a bowl, mix all the dry ingredients such as rice flour, sesame seeds, carom seeds, white chili powder, salt and sugar.
2. Once the dry ingredients are mixed well, add the sour cream and knead the dough and keep it aside.
3. Take the chakri maker and grease it with a little oil. Fill the chakri maker with the kneaded dough and spiral out the chakris on to a parchment paper on a tray.
4. Take a saucepan and heat about 3-4 inches deep oil to about medium heat. Slowly and carefully take each chakri from the parchment paper and slide into the hot oil. Fry till golden brown in color by flipping sides.
5. Drain them into a paper towel to remove the excess oil.
SERVING
6. Serve as a snack throughout the year or even during festivals like Diwali.
NOTE
The chakris can be directly spiraled into the oil as well.
