Mandue ki Roti

This is a Garhwali and Kumaoni bread which forms an important part of meals on cold winter days, as mandua (finger millet) has a warming effect on the body.


Mandua flour 500 Gram
Water 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Ghee 1 Tablespoon (For greasing)



1. Mix mandua flour with adequate water and knead to form smooth dough.

2. Flatten dough balls of mandua flour on wet hand. The chapattis are thicker than regular whole wheat rots.

3. Cook on iron tawa. The chapattis will not fluff up like regular wheat rotis.


4. Grease with ghee and serve with gur (jaggery) or any pahari curry.
