Unakka Chemeen Chamanthi

Unakka chemeen chamanthi is dry prawn chutney prepared and served during regular meals. This chammanthi is often carried during long trips due to its large shelf life.


Dry prawn 250 Gram
Dry chilies 4 Large , broken
Shallots 4 Medium
Salt 1/4 Teaspoon



1. Clean dried prawns to remove any clinging segments and wash them properly.


2. In an earthen pot, roast the washed prawns until they are half done. Add shallots, broken chilies and roast on medium heat until the mixture gets browned.


3. Add roasted ingredients to a mixer and powder them with little salt. Adjust the salt as per taste preferences


4. Serve this unakka chemeen chammanthi with rice or any other bread.
