Whole wheat flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Rice flour 2 Tablespoon
Water 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) (adjust quantity as needed)
Vegetable oil spray 1


In a large bowl, sift flours together.

Add enough water to make a stiff dough and set aside 1 hour.

Knead dough with a little water until soft.

Divide in to twelve small balls.

Roll into very thin pancakes 4 to 6 inches in diameter, or use a tortilla press.

Lightly spray a griddle with vegetable oil.

Cook on a very hot griddle until half-done on one side.

Turn and cook the other side until brown spots appear.

To make chapatis puff up on a griddle, turn again to first side and press edges of chapati with a clean cloth until bread puffs up.

You may also use a hot charcoal fire to make the bread puff up.

Throw cooked bread directly on hot coals with side that was cooked first down.

Cook until chapati puffs up.
