Learn how to make Maharashtrian style Sukat Kalvan - dry prawn curry recipe from our chef Archana on Ruchkar Mejwani. This curry goes very well with rice, bhakri or chapati.


Oil 2 Tablespoon
Ginger garlic paste 1 Tablespoon
Turmeric 1/2 Teaspoon
Onion 1 , chop
Potato 1 , chop
Dried prawns 1 Cup (16 tbs) , soaked (sukat)
Masala mix 1 Tablespoon
Coconut milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Tamarind pulp 1 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Coriander leaves 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Water 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)



1. Firstly, soak the dried Prawns in some water for 30 minutes.


2. In a pan heat some oil.

3. Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, onion, coriander leaves & potato. Saute everything well.

4. Then add soaked prawn, mix masala, salt & water. Mix well.

5. Cover it with a lid and let everything cook for 15 minutes.

6. Add coconut milk & tamarind pulp. Mix everything well.

7. Cover it again and let everything simmer for 5 minutes.


8. Sukat Kalvan is ready to be served.
