Dahi Vada How to Make Dahi Vada Dahi Vada Indian Vegetarian


Split black gram 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Yogurt 1 Cup (16 tbs) (sweet and sour yogurt used)
Sweet tamarind chutney 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Coriander chutney To Taste
Cumin powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Coriander powder 1/4 Teaspoon
Salt 1 Teaspoon
Red chili powder To Taste



1. First grind the soaked urad dal with 1 cup of water and salt and make a smooth paste.

2. Next in a pan add enough oil and let it heat.Once the oil is hot, add the paste using a tablespoon in the hot oil.Once they puff up nicely and cook for 1 or 2 minutes then turn to the other side. Let them cook for another 2 minutes.Once they are golden brown in color, remove from the hot oil.

3. Now Put them in cold water for few seconds and then remove from the water and squeeze them between your palms.

4. Now set them in a bowl or in a plate. Add sweet yogurt, tamarind and coriander chutney.Then sprinkle coriander powder, cumin powder and red chili powder.Garnish with coriander leaves.


5. Serve this dahi vadas once they ready or you can refrigerate and serve them chilled.
