Soya and Vegetable Pulao

Soya and Vegetable Pulao, a wholesome protein based delicacy.


Soya granules 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Rice 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) (washed and drained)
Finely chopped carrot 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Green peas 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Ghee 1 Teaspoon
Cumin seeds 1/2 Teaspoon (jeera)
Cinnamon stick 1 Small (dalchini)
Cardamom 1 (elaichi)
Asafoetida 1 Pinch (hing)
Chopped onions 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Turmeric powder 1/4 Teaspoon (haldi)
Dhania jeera powder
Salt To Taste



Combine soya granules with ¾ cup of water in a deep non-stick pan, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes or till they are soft, while stirring occasionally. Keep aside.

Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds.

When the seeds crackle, add cinnamon, cardamom, asafoetida and onions. Sauté on a medium flame for 1 minute.

Add carrots, peas, rice, cooked soya granules, turmeric powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder, salt and 1 cup of water. Mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles.

Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.


Serve immediately with low-fat curds.
