Old Fashioned Gingerbread

Lynn demonstrates how to make an Old Fashioned Gingerbread that would be great for the Holidays for a dessert or snack.

Ingredients

Granulated sugar 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Butter 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , softened
Eggs 1
Molasses 1 Cup (16 tbs)
All purpose flour 2 1/2 Cup (40 tbs)
Baking soda 1 1/2 Teaspoon
Ground cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
Ground ginger 1 Teaspoon
Ground cloves 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon
Hot water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Confectioners sugar 2 Tablespoon (for sprinkling) (Optional)
Cooking spray 2 Dash
Flour 1/2 Tablespoon (For dusting)

Directions

GETTING READY

1. Preheat the oven to 350°. Grease and flour a pan and set aside.

MAKING

2. In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the egg, and mix in the molasses.

4. Mix together the flour mixture and butter mixture.

5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 1 hour, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

6. Allow to cool in pan before serving.

SERVING

7. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar slice and serve!
