German Chocolate Cake can be somewhat intimidating. I wanted to give you guys a recipe that is broken down and easy to follow. I also discussed the slight differences in some of the chocolates in this video while showing a couple of good baking tricks.

For cake
Semi sweet baking chococlate 4 Ounce , chopped ((1 Bar))
Hot water 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Cake flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
Salt 1/4 Teaspoon
Unsalted butter 1 Cup (16 tbs) ((Plus 3 tablespoon for the pan, at room temperature))
Granulated sugar 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Eggs 4 Large , separated ((At room temperature))
Pure vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon
Buttermilk 1 Cup (16 tbs) ((At room temperature))
For frosting
Egg yolks 4
Evaporated milk 12 Fluid Ounce ((1 Can))
Granulated sugar 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Unsalted butter 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Roasted unsalted pecans 2 Cup (32 tbs) , finely chopped
Shredded sweetened coconut 7 Ounce

1. Dissolve semi sweet chocolate in hot water and let it cool down.

2. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

For Cake

3. Beat sugar with butter until its soft and fluffy. Add one egg yolk at a time and continue to beat.

4. Add vanilla and melted chocolate to the bowl and continue to mix until its well mixed.

5. Gradually add 1/3 rd flour, alternating with buttermilk and continue to beat until well combined. Keep this chocolate batter aside.

6. Take egg whites in a separate bowl and beat until soft peaks are formed.

7. Drop in egg whites to the chocolate batter and fold till everything is well incorporated.

8. Pour equal quantity of batter in well greased and floured pan.

7. Bake for 25 to 28 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.

8. Place the cake on a cooling rack and allow them to cool well.

For Frosting

9. Meanwhile, heat egg yolk with condensed milk, sugar and butter until everthing melts. Cook for about 15 minutes with intermittent stirring until it reaches the desired consistency.

10. Drop in chopped pecans and coconut in the the pan and mix well to make the frosting.

11. Place a cake board at the bottom of a chopping board. Arrange baking paper all over to cover the board. Put a little bit of frosting over the baking paper and put the first cake layer over it.

12. Scoop some frosting over the first layer, spread it well, place the other layer on top. Repeat layering with frosting and other cake layer.

13. Frost the cake with a thin crumb coat and then frost it well. Let everything set well.

14. Slice and serve the cake and enjoy.
