Baby Corn Manchurian

For the batter
Plain flour 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Corn starch 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Salt & pepper To Taste
Baking powder 1/4 Teaspoon
Minced ginger 1 Tablespoon
Minced garlic 1 Tablespoon
Baby corn 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Chopped cabbage 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (Optional)
Shredded carrots 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (Optional)
Water 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (as needed)
For the gravy
Oil 2 Tablespoon
Onion 1 Cup (16 tbs) , cut into cubes
Bell pepper 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Soy sauce 4 Tablespoon
Vinegar 2 Teaspoon
Chili sauce To Taste
Sweet and sour sauce 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (tomato ketchup)
For frying
Oil 2 Cup (32 tbs) (For deep frying)
For garnish
Chopped green onion 1 Tablespoon
Chopped cilantro 1 Tablespoon
Baby corn 1 , cut into half



1. In a bowl, combine the carrots, cabbage and baby corns, add the minced ginger and garlic and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Mix well and set aside.

2. In another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder and slowly pour in the water, mixing constantly to get a lump free batter.

3. Add the vegetable mixture to this batter and mix to combine well.

4. In a wok or pan, heat the oil for frying.


5. Using a spoon, drop the prepared batter with vegetables in the hot oil, making small balls as shown in the video.

6. Fry them on medium heat until golden brown in color and transfer on to a kitchen towel. Repeat the process with all the batter.

7. For the gravy, In another wok, heat the oil and add the minced ginger and garlic. Add the other vegetables prepared for the gravy and saute them lightly.

8. Add the vinegar, sweet and sour sauce, soy sauce and chili sauce. Stir well to mix and turn off the heat.


9. Add the prepared Manchurian balls to the gravy just before serving.

10. Garnish with green onion and cilantro.


11. Serve hot accompanied with rice or noodles.
