Making Seitan!

Praise seitan! A versatile ingredient that is made from vital wheat gluten which gives you a meaty texture. This is easy to make and is easy to flavor for whatever you are making it for. Use it for your Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Thai, American, or any other dishes you may need a high protein meat alternative for.


Vital wheat gluten 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Vegetable stock 5 Cup (80 tbs) , divided into 1 cup and 4 cups
Nutritional yeast flakes 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Soy sauce 2 Tablespoon
Garlic powder 2 Teaspoon
Garlic 2 Clove (10 gm) , minced
Red onion 1/2 , chopped



In a large bowl, combine wheat gluten, yeast flakes, garlic powder, minced garlic and mix well.

Add 1 cup of vegetable stock, soy sauce and mix until it forms a ball. Knead for 2 minutes.

Make loaf or cut into bite sized pieces.

Place in pot with remaining vegetable stock, onion and bring to boil. Turn down heat and cover with a lid. Allow to simmer for 45 minutes.

Once done, allow to cool completely.


Use as a replacement for meat, serve and enjoy!
