Fruity Parfait with Low Fat Yogurt

This is a comparatively healthy dessert that is sweet as well has the goodness of the fruits and yogurt. It is very easy to make and can be made in advance and refrigerated.


Sponge cake 1 Cup (16 tbs) , cubed
Low fat yogurt 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Sugar 1/3 Cup (5.33 tbs) , divided (to taste)
Canned pineapple bits 1/3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
Pappaya 1/3 Cup (5.33 tbs) , peeled, diced
Apple 1/2 Small , diced
Pomegranate seeds 1 Tablespoon



1. In a bowl, mix yogurt and sugar till the sugar dissolves. Set aside.

2. In another bowl mix apple and papaya pieces, with 1 tablespoon sugar. Set aside for 30 minutes.


3. In a serving glass arrange the sponge cake at the bottom. Pour 2 tablespoon of yogurt mix over it. Spread the fruits mixture as the 3rd layer. Pour 2 more tablespoons of yogurt mixture. Sprinkle few pomegranate seeds on top.

4. Repeat this layering one more time or according to the size of the glass. Finish the layering with the yogurt and pomegranate sprinkled on top. Cover the glasses with saran wrap and place in the refrigerator for few hours or till served.


5. Serve the parfait chilled. Top it with dried fruits or nuts if desired to make it more rich.


Yogurt can be replaced with whipped cream or ice cream.
