Caroline's Chocolate Tart / Tarte au Chocolat de Caroline

The moistest, richest, most chocolaty and easiest cake you will ever make! Add just a sprinkle of powdered sugar or a scoop of ice cream and you will be instantly transported to chocolate dessert heaven!


Dark chocolate 200 Gram
Powdered sugar 180 Gram
Butter 175 Gram
Flour 4 Tablespoon
Eggs 4
Salt 1 Pinch
For greasing
Butter 2 Tablespoon (For greasing)
Cocoa powder 2 Tablespoon (as needed)
For decoration
Powdered sugar 2 Tablespoon (as needed)



1. Rub butter all around the tart pan using paper towel.

2. Sift and coat the sides and bottom with cocoa powder. Tilt and spread it evenly as shown in the video.

3. Preheat oven to 325 degree F.


4. Melt chocolate over simmering water or microwave.

5. Add butter, a few chunks at a time and stir until it melts.

6. Stir in powdered sugar and remove the pan from heat.

7. Add one whole egg and 3 egg yolks into the batter, keeping 3 egg whites separately in a bowl.

8. Add flour and mix to combine.

9. Beat egg whites with a pinch of salt until nice and stiff.

10. Gently fold egg whites into the batter, 1/3 at a time and pour it into the prepared tart pan. Tap the pan on counter, a couple of times.

11. Pop it into the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick when inserted in the center comes out clean.

12. Remove the pan from oven and allow it to cool for 30 minutes.


13. Using a paper doily, decorate tart with powdered sugar.


14. Cut into wedges and serve.
