It just sounds hard... but these are super easy and oh so tasty.
For frangipane | ||
Granulated sugar | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Unsalted butter | 42 Gram | |
Eggs | 1 Large | |
Pure vanilla extract | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Ground almond | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
All purpose flour | 1 Tablespoon | |
For crust | ||
Frozen puff pastry | 1 Pound , Defrosted | |
For filling | ||
Baking apples | 2 Pound | |
Sugar | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon |
GETTING READY
1. Preheat oven to 400 degree F or 205 degree C.
MAKING
For frangipane:
2. In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
3. Add vanilla extract and egg. Beat until smooth.
4. Drop ground almond and flour. Beat until smooth and set aside.
For crust:
5. Roll out puff pastry sheet, and cut into 12 pieces approx 3x5- inch.
6. Place them on a parchment lined baking sheet.
7. Evenly divide the almond mixture between the pastries and spread leaving about ¼-inch border. Cover and refrigerate for about 15 minutes.
8. Meanwhile, peel, core and slice the apples.
9. In a large bowl, place the sliced apples and sprinkle sugar and ground cinnamon on top. Toss well.
10. Remove the puff pastry from the refrigerator and arrange sugar coated apple slices on top as shown in the video.
11. Pop the baking sheet in oven and bake for about 15 - 20 minutes or until the apples are slightly browned and the puff pastry is golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
SERVING
12. Serve apple galettes and enjoy!
