Betty demonstrates how to bake the fine french bread.."Brioche" -a yeast bread rich with milk, eggs and butter.
|Warm milk||1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (115 degrees)|
|Dried yeast||2 1/4 Ounce (1 packet)|
|Flour||4 1/4 Cup (68 tbs)|
|Unsalted butter||1/2 Pound , cut into pieces (at room temperature, plus extra for greasing)|
|Egg||1 (for egg wash)|
In an electric mixer, combine milk, sugar, yeast and mix well.
Add eggs and beat well.
Add flour in small batches and mix well.
Add butter and mix until well combined.
Transfer the mixture into greased bowl and cover with cling wrap.
Allow to rise for 2 hours and refrigerate overnight.
Sprinkle little flour and mix well as shown in the video.
Divide into two portions and place into greased loaf pan.
Cover with damp cloth and allow to rise for 2-2 1/2 hours.
Once done, top with egg wash.
Preheat oven to 375F.
Pop into oven and bake for 30-40 minutes.
