Charlotte's Apple Butter

Ingredients

Apples 3 Quart (Jonathan Or Winesap)
Apple cider 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Sugar 2 1/2 Cup (40 tbs)
Star anise 1 Teaspoon
Lemon juice 2 Tablespoon
Cinnamon stick 2

Directions

MAKING

1. In large slow cooker combine peeled, cored and chopped apples with apple cider.

2. Cover and cook on Low for 10-12 hours.

3. Stir in sugar, star anise, lemon juice and stick cinnamon.

4. With cover, cook on High for 2 hours, stir, remove lid and cook on High for 2-4 hours more such that thickened.

5. To preserve, pour into sterilized jars and seal.

SERVING

6. Serve as desired.
