Healthy Version Of Beef Stroganoff

This is a Russian beef dish where the meat is tender and succulent. It is an all time dinner favourite and can easily be made at home.


Lean stew beef 1 Pound , cut into strips 2 inches long
Olive oil 1 Tablespoon
Garlic 2 Clove (10 gm)
Boiling water 3 Cup (48 tbs)
Onion 1 Medium , sliced
Oilve oil 1 Tablespoon (divided)
Salt To Taste
Ground chili pepper To Taste
Low sodium tomato paste 1 Tablespoon
Low sodium mustard 2 Tablespoon
Lemon juice 2 Tablespoon
Whole wheat flour 1 Tablespoon
For serving
Potato 1 , cut lengthwise into wedges
Low fat sour cream 1 Tablespoon



1. In a pot, put the garlic cloves with beef strips. Pour boiling water to cover the beef. Cover and simmer for 90 minutes.

2. In a pan, heat half tablespoon of olive oil. Put onions and sauté till it browns. Then add the cooked beef strips.

3. Sprinkle salt and chili pepper and mix it.

4. Add the lemon juice, tomato paste and mustard to the above mixture. Pour the liquid from cooking beef. Add the all purpose flour and mix well to clear any lumps.

5. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.

6. In the meanwhile, in a skillet, heat half tablespoon of olive oil.

7. Arrange the potatoes, sprinkle salt to taste, cover and cook on low flame till potatoes are light brown.


8. In a serving plate, serve the stroganoff with the potatoes and sour cream.
