Healthy Version Of Shepherd's Pie

Shepherd's Pie is a classic English Pie that is rich and comforting. The potatoes and beef in the recipe provide the right amount of carbohydrates and protein and make the pie filling too. Mutton or chicken mince and vegetables of your choice can also be added.


Lean ground beef (7% fat) 1 Pound
Onion 1
Potatoes 6
Fat free milk 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Low fat butter 1 Ounce
Reduced fat and sodium creamed corn 1 Can (10 oz)
Salt and pepper To Taste
Reduced sodium low fat gravy mix 2 Teaspoon
Low fat parmesan cheese 2 Tablespoon
Paprika 1 Teaspoon



1)In a big saucepan place potatoes and pour water enough to cover it completely.

2)Cover and cook well and drain after cooking.

3)In a bowl mash the potatoes and add some fat free milk and low fat butter and mix well.


4)Preheat the oven to 160 degrees.

5)In a pan brown the lean ground beef and onions. Make sure to brown well for good texture and taste.

6)Season the beef with salt and pepper and stock powder.

7)In a baking dish pour in the seasoned beef and spread.

8)Pour over the cream corn and spread it evenly. Place dollops of mashed potatoes and spread evenly along with the cheddar cheese.

9)Bake in the oven for 40 minutes till the pie is golden brown and crusty.


10)Serve warm and enjoy!
