Ingredients

Sifted flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Shortening 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Egg yolk 1
Ice water 4 Tablespoon
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon

Directions

GETTING READY

1. Preheat oven at 400° F.

MAKING

2. In a bowl, mix flour and salt.

3. Add shortening and mix with your hand.

4. In another bowl, take egg yolk. Add water. Beat it together.

5. Add it to the earlier mixture. Mix well and make dough ball.

6. Roll the dough such that it is approximately 1/8 inch thick.

7. Cut it into 3-inch circles. Chill.

8. Fold it such that it resembles half moon. Press the edges together with a little water.

9. Grease a baking sheet. Place the half moons over it.

10. Bake it in an oven at 400° F for 15 minutes or until it browns.

SERVING

11. To serve Piroshki, top with poppy seeds.
