Welsh Rarebit Bread

Ingredients

All purpose flour
Dry yeast 1/2 Ounce (2 Packages, 1/4 Ounce Each)
Granulated sugar 2 Tablespoon
Salt 2 Teaspoon
Dry mustard 1 Teaspoon
Cayenne pepper 1 Dash
Skim milk 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Water 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Processed american cheese 8 Ounce , cubed
Margarine 2 Tablespoon
Worcestershire sauce 1 Tablespoon

Directions

GETTING READY

1) Preheat oven at 350 degrees.

MAKING

2) In a bowl, mix together 2 cups of the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, mustard, and pepper.

3) In a saucepan, heat together milk, water, cheese, and margarine until cheese is just melted and then cool until lukewarm.

4) Add this mixture to the flour mixture and mix until smooth.

5) Add Worcestershire sauce and mix until soft dough forms.

6) On a floured surface, knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Put the dough in a greased bowl and cover. Keep in in warm place to rise to double.

7) Punch it down and divide in half. Roll both the dough into a 5x 11-inch rectangle.

8) Cut out 3 long strips from the rectangles leaving strips joined at one end. Braid the strips.

9) Take two sprayed 8 x 4 x 2-inch loaf pans and place the braids. Cover and let them rise to double.

10) Now, bake them for 45-55 minutes, until deep golden brown. Let them cool on the rack.

SERVING

11) Serve the Welsh rarebit Bread as a snack.

TIPS

If the braids are browning too quickly, you can cover with a foil and bake.
