Apple Dumplings

Ingredients

Cooking apples 4
Shortcrust pastry 6 Ounce
Stoned dates 2 Ounce
Milk 3 Tablespoon (For Glazing)

Directions

GETTING READY

1 Preheat the oven to 400°F/ Gas Mark 6.

MAKING

2 Peel the apples and core completely by scooping out with an apple peeler.

3 For the pastry: Knead the pastry lightly, and divide it into 4 equal pieces.

4 Knead each piece of the pastry into a ball.

5 Roll into a 7-inch round, large enough to cover an apple.

6 Using the stoned dates, fill up the holes in the apples.

7 Place each apple on a round of the pastry.

8 Tuck the pastry neatly around apples.

9 Smooth with the hands and turn upside-down, so the seams are underneath.

10 In an ovenproof dish, arrange the apples and brush with milk.

11 Bake in a fairly hot oven for 30 minutes.

SERVING

12 Serve hot.
