Old Fashioned Algonquin

Named for the Algonquin Hotel, New York City, which achieved notoriety as a meeting place in the 1920s for a group of friends known as the Algonquin Round Table or Vicious Circle. Amongst the group were such renowned people as Robert Benchley, Edna Ferber, Harpo Marx and Dorothy Parker.


Rye 1 1/2 Ounce
Dry vermouth 1 Ounce
Pineapple juice 1 Ounce
Cherry 1 Medium , for garnish
Ice cubes 10 Medium , cracked



1. Shake the rye, vermouth and juice vigorously over ice.

2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.


3. Drop a cherry in the drink and serve.
