Spice Doughnuts

Ingredients

Shortening 2 Tablespoon
Sugar 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Eggs 2
All purpose flour
Baking powder 2 Tablespoon
Salt 1 Teaspoon
Ground cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
Ground nutmeg 1/2 Teaspoon
Milk 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Vegetable oil 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Sifted powdered sugar 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Water 3 Tablespoon
Vanilla extract 1/2 Teaspoon

Directions

MAKING

1. Cream shortening. Add 3/4 cup sugar and beat well.

2. Add eggs to it beat well.

3. In a bowl mix flour, baking powder, salt, and spices.

4. Stir into creamed mixture alternating with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.

5. Lightly flour a flat surface and keep the dough in it.

6. Roll dough into 1/2-inch thickness.

7. With a floured 2 1/2-inch doughnut cutter cut the dough.

8. Lightly flour a flat surface and keep the dough in it.

9. Cover and let stand for 15 minutes.

10. In a skillet heat 2 to 3 inches of oil to 375°.

11. Drop 3 or 4 doughnuts at a time and fry.

12. Cook for 1 minute on each side until golden

13. Drain on paper towels.

14. In a bowl mix powdered sugar, water, and vanilla. Beat well.

SERVING

15. Dip warm doughnuts in the glaze.

16. Cool and serve.
