Country Style Doughnut Puffs

Eggs 2 , beaten
Vanilla 1/2 Teaspoon
Sugar 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Light cream 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
All purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Baking powder 1 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon
Butter 2 Tablespoon , melted
Cooking oil 1
Powdered sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs) , sifted
Ground nutmeg 1/4 Teaspoon


Beat eggs, vanilla, and sugar well.

Stir in cream.

Sift together dry ingredients; gradually stir into egg mixture.

Fold in melted butter.

In skillet that is at least 3 inches deep, heat 1 1/2 inches oil to 375°.

Drop dough by teaspoonfuls into hot oil.

Balls should be no more than 3/4 inch in diameter to cook through.

Fry till brown, turning once, 2 or 3 minutes.

Drain on paper toweling; cool.

Combine powdered sugar and nutmeg in paper or plastic bag.

Shake a few puffs at a time to coat well.
