Easy Chicken Masala

This rich recipe is super simple. A special blend of Yogurt, Ginger Garlic paste, spices salt to taste is mixed and kept aside. Onions, Onion seeds (Kalonji), Curry leaves Chillies are sauteed and Chicken is added to the pot. Spices are added and mixed to coat the Chicken and finally the prepared Yogurt and Water is added to the Chicken and slow cooked.


Yogurt mixture:
Yogurt 2 1/2 Cup (40 tbs)
Salt To Taste
Fried onions 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Ginger and garlic paste 6 Tablespoon
Chilli 2 Teaspoon
Cumin 2 Teaspoon
Coriander powder 2 Teaspoon
Garam masala 2 Teaspoon
Turmeric 1 Teaspoon
Chicken curry:
Oil 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Sliced onions 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Kalonji 1 Teaspoon
Curry leaves 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Green chillies 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Bone in chicken 2 Pound
Red chilli powder 1 Teaspoon
Turmeric 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Sliced tomatoes 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Water 1 Cup (16 tbs)



1. Mix all the Yogurt mixture together and keep aside

2. In a kadai or pot add the oil and when it’s hot, add in the onion and onion seeds

3. Add the curry leaves and green chillies

4. Add in the chicken pieces followed by the chilli & turmeric powder and salt to taste and saute to coat

5. Add the tomatoes, followed by all the prepared yogurt mixture

6. Add the water, cover and cook for 15 - 20 mins stirring in between

7. Add salt to taste


8. Serve and Enjoy!
