Distilled vinegar | 250 Milliliter (1 cup) | |
Apple cider vinegar | 125 Milliliter (1/2 cup) | |
Lemon | 1 (juiced and shell) | |
Brown sugar | 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) | |
Hot sauce | 2 Tablespoon (30 ml) | |
Salt | 1 Teaspoon (1 tsp) | |
Paprika | 1 Teaspoon (5 ml) | |
Cayenne | 1/2 Teaspoon (2 ml) | |
Red pepper flakes | 1 Teaspoon (5 ml) | |
Black pepper | 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) | |
For carolina mustard bbq sauce: | ||
Yellow mustard | 1 Cup (16 tbs) (250 ml) | |
Honey | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) (60 ml) | |
Apple cider vinegar | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (125 ml) | |
Brown sugar | 2 Tablespoon (30 ml) | |
Brown sugar | 2 Tablespoon (30 ml) | |
Worcestershire sauce | 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) | |
Black pepper | 2 Teaspoon (10 ml) | |
Salt | 1 Teaspoon (5 ml) | |
Hot sauce | 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) |
MAKING:
1. Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized saucepan.
2. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently for 10-15 minutes.
3. You aren't 'cooking' the sauce, just heating it so that the sugars dissolve and the flavours meld.
4. Remove from heat, allow to cool, then transfer to a lidded jar.
5. In the case of the pepper sauce - remove the lemon shells.
