In this Kheema Biriyani recipe, ground meat is cooked with spices. Basmati rice is also cooked in a pot with whole spices and then the Kheema and the rice is layered.
Saffron milk is added and topped with fried onions, slices of tomatoes, a little bit of food coloring and boiled eggs. Once cooked in the oven, its aromatic and delicious.

Ingredients

For kheema:
Finely diced onion 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Sliced green chilies 2 Tablespoon
Diced tomatoes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Biryani masala 2 Tablespoon
Chilli powder 1 Teaspoon
Ground beef/Ground mutton 500 Gram
Water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Salt To Taste
Coriander 2 Tablespoon
Mint 2 Tablespoon
For rice:
Basmati rice 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Water 4 Cup (64 tbs)
Salt To Taste
Cinnamon stick 2 Inch
Star anise 3
Green cardamom 5
Cloves 10
Black cardamom 2
Coriander leaves 1 Tablespoon
Mint leaves 1 Tablespoon
For topping:
Melted ghee 2 Tablespoon
Saffron strands 8
Milk 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Fried onions 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Sliced tomatoes 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Food colouring 2 Drop
Boiled eggs 2 , halves
Coriander leaves 1 Tablespoon
Mint leaves 1 Tablespoon

Directions

GETTING READY:

1. Soak the Basmati rice for at least 30 mins and rinse a few times to remove excess starch.

2. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

MAKING:

3. Heat some oil and saute the onion followed by the green chilli.

4. When the onion is golden brown add the tomatoes, the biriyani masala and the chilli powder and saute.

5. Add the ground meat.

6. Add salt to taste and mix it well.

7. Add a cup of water, cover and allow to cook for 10 – 20 mins.

8. Cook uncovered for another 10 mins.

9. Add the chopped coriander and mint.

10. To cook the rice bring the water to the boil.

11. Add salt to taste and all the whole spices.

12. Rinse the rice again and add to the boiling water till it’s 60% cooked then remove and drain.

13. Layer the kheema at the bottom, add more coriander and mint.

14. Add the rice, ghee, saffron milk.

15. Add the fried onions, tomato slices, food color and boiled eggs, cover with foil and add to your preheated oven at 350 degrees for about 20 – 30 mins.

16. Add some fresh coriander and mint leaves.
