Traditional Homestyle Beef And Macaroni Stew

Beef Macaroni Stew, Tender chunks of meat are sautéed together in a base gravy with stock, spices, potatoes, peas, carrots and macaroni. This is comfort food at its best! Funnily enough this recipe that seems so simple and comforting was typically served at special occasions. The recipes and preparation process varies but the end result contains pretty much the same ingredients meat, potatoes, vegetables and macaroni.


Cubed potatoes 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Elbow macaroni 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Cinnamon 2 Inch
Cardamom 4
Cloves 2
Oil 2 Tablespoon
Stewing beef 1 Pound
Water 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Beef buillon cubes 2
Butter 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Finely diced onion 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Green chillies 2 Tablespoon
Ginger and garlic paste 2 Tablespoon
Cumin powder 1 Teaspoon
Coriander powder 1 Teaspoon
Chilli powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Diced tomatoes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Peas 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Diced carrots 1 Cup (16 tbs)



1. Boil the potatoes in boiling salted water till they are half cooked and drain

2. Cook the macaroni as per the package instructions and drain

3. In a pressure cooker heat the oil and saute the whole spices for a minute

4. Add the Beef and cover with water

5. Add the stock cubes, press down with the back of a spoon and pressure cook for 20 mins

6. Once done, release the pressure, open the lid and allow to cool

7. In a saute pan, melt the butter and saute the onions

8. Add the green chilli and the ginger and garlic paste

9. Add all the powdered spices followed by the tomatoes

10. Cover and cook till the tomatoes are soft

11. Add the beef pieces, carefully discarding all the whole spices

12. Strain the stock as well into the saute pan

13. Add the potatoes and allow to complete the cooking

14. Add the peas, followed by the carrots

15. Finally add the macaroni and cook covered for a minute


16. Serve and Enjoy!
