1939 Potato Biscuits

Glen is back in the kitchen making this 1939 Potato Biscuits Recipe from the Elmvale cookbook. This depression era potato tea biscuits recipe turns out to be a winner.

Ingredients

Mashed potato 1 Cup (16 tbs)
All purpose flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Baking powder 4 Teaspoon
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon
Milk 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Lard 1 Tablespoon
Melted butter 1 Tablespoon

Directions

GETTING READY:

1. Preheat oven to 450ºF.

MAKING:

2. Mix together dry ingredients and then stir into potato.

3. Add in the fats and milk and mix completely.

4. Pat out dough on a floured counter to ½” thick. Cut into biscuits - gather and re pat any extra dough.

5. Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
