Dahi Wala Chicken is a indian chicken gravy recipe made using curd, indian spices and chicken. This chicken recipe goes well with paratha or rice.


For marinade:
Chicken 1 Kilogram
Curd 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Coriander seed powder 1 Tablespoon
Garam masala powder 1 Teaspoon
Turmeric powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Garlic powder 1 Teaspoon
Ginger powder 1 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
For gravy:
Ghee 2 Tablespoon
Star anise 1
Cinnamon stick 1
Cloves 5
Peppercorns 10
Onions 3 , chop
Ginger paste 1/2 Teaspoon
Garlic paste 1/2 Teaspoon
Green chillies 4 , chop
Turmeric powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Garam masala powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Tomatoes 2 , chop
Water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
For garnish:
Oil 3 Tablespoon (for fried onion)
Onion 1 , slice (for fried onion)
Chopped coriander 2 Tablespoon



1. In a bowl of chicken, add curd, coriander seed powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, garlic paste, ginger paste, salt, mix it well and keep it aside.


2. Heat a wok, add ghee, star anise, cinnamon, cloves, pepper corn, once the spices start leaving aroma, add onions.

3. Saute the onions till they turn translucent.

4. Add ginger paste, garlic paste, green chilli, saute it till the raw smell goes off.

5. Add turmeric, garam masala, mix well and add tomatoes.

6. Saute it till the oil separates.

7. Add the marinated chicken and saute it on high flame.

8. Add water, cover it with lid and cook ill the chicken is done.

9. Add oil in a vessel, add onion and saute it till its nice and brown.

10. Remove the chicken is a serving plate and garnish it with fried onions, coriander leaves and chilly oil.


11. Our Dahi Wala Chicken is ready.
