How to make Sourdough Cinnamon Coffee Cake. If you have a sourdough starter sitting on your counter, then you know that sometimes you struggle with what to do with the cast off... Use your sourdough starter in a cake!

Sugar | 165 Gram (175 mL / 3⁄4 cup) | |
Egg | 1 | |
Pure vanilla extract | 10 Milliliter (2 tsp) | |
Sourdough starter | 250 Milliliter (1 cup) | |
All purpose flour | 140 Gram (250 mL / 1 cup) | |
Coarse salt | 2 Milliliter (1/2 tsp) | |
Baking soda | 5 Milliliter (1 tsp) | |
Ground cinnamon | 5 Milliliter (1 tsp) | |
Ground nutmeg | 1 Milliliter (1/4 tsp) | |
For topping: | ||
Ground cinnamon | 5 Milliliter (1 tsp) | |
Brown sugar | 115 Gram (125 mL / 1⁄2 cup) | |
Butter | 30 Gram (15 mL / 2 Tbsp) | |
Flour | 5 Milliliter (1 tbsp) |
GETTING READY:
1. Preheat oven to 180ºC (350ºF).
MAKING:
2. Stir together dry ingredients; flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg.
3. Cream together butter and sugar.
4. Beat in egg and vanilla.
5. Mix in sourdough starter.
6. Mix together the topping ingredients.
7. Add the flour mixture to sourdough mixture and stir to combine.
8. Put batter into greased 9" cake pan.
9. Spread topping on top of batter.
10. Bake for about 30 minutes.
